The Forensic Psychology Concentration

Psychology
Degree Awarded
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts

The forensic psychology concentration is an option for Psychology majors and offers students a comprehensive study into the application of the science and profession of psychology to questions and issues relating to law and the legal system.

Students should realize that careers in the field of psychology require further training. Many of our students pursue graduate studies in this field.

What is special about the psychology major?

  • Nationally recognized faculty in Forensic Psychology
  • Opportunities for Internships and Field Experience in the field of psychology include juvenile court, shelters, psychiatric clinics, rehabilitation agencies and crisis hotlines
  • A nearly one hundred percent acceptance rate for students applying to graduate school
  • All Psychology majors are encouraged to participate in Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology and the Psychology Club

Career Opportunities

Employment is expanding in the field of psychology. Job opportunities exist at various levels of local, state and federal agencies, and mental health clinics as well as in the private sector and in non-profit treatment and rehabilitation programs. Some of the placements our recent graduates have found are with the Department of Human Services, agencies for the homeless, Alzheimer's Association, local mental health agencies and graduate school.

International Experiences

Lake Erie College encourages all students to participate in international experiences. Students may wish to spend a semester at one of our "sister" institutions, earning credits towards their degree while learning about other peoples and cultures. Other international opportunities for students are Study Tours. Study Tours are two-week trips that full-time students may take their Junior or Senior year. Most of the cost of the trip is included within tuition.
