Administrative Assistant, School of Education & Professional Studies



  • Supports the dean and faculty members with day-to-day tasks, including scheduling meetings, orientation preparations, advisory board meetings, campus supervisor meetings, etc.
  • Creates and maintains physical student files (undergraduate and graduate) for the education department.
  • Collects faculty syllabi and office hours and places in digital files for each semester.
  • Collects and maintains the Praxis and OAE scores and updates the Excel spread sheet, EX, physical and electronic student files.
  • Processes campus supervisor monthly mileage reimbursement forms.
  • Prepares check requests for school districts and accompanying letters.
  • Compiles and submits bursar report for student teaching and field fees.
  • Sends FBI & BCI reports to districts, as requested.
  • Updates spreadsheet, EX and student clinical files with all FBI/BCI reports.
  • Supervises the graduate assistant and student worker to provide the greatest possible assistance in the office.
  • Works collaboratively with the Registrar’s Office, Security, Mailroom, IT and College Events.
  • Prepares packets for campus supervisors and cooperating teachers to include: appropriate handbook; agenda; checklist; Taskstream instructions.
  • Participates in organizing field and student teaching orientations.
  • Assists a faculty member with education department interview process.
  • Assists with production of several department handbooks for students/teachers.
  • Submits new handbooks to the web master for posting on the education department web page.
  • Maintains department’s Google Calendar.
  • Answers the office phone, maintains office supplies and collects/delivers department mail.
  • Greets and assists education students and other visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned by the dean.


  • Working knowledge of office equipment: printers, copier and phones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills with ability to attend to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular) & Google Docs.
  • Willingness to learn LEC’s student database program Jenzabar EX 6.
