College mourns the passing of emeritus director and friend, David Siegel

Academics,

We are sad to announce the passing of David K. Siegel on January 23. David was a dedicated member of the Lake Erie College Board of Directors, having served as a member of the board from 1997 to 2012, when he was granted emeritus status. While on the board, he served as chair of the Enrollment Management Committee and was a leader in the Academic Policy and Planning and Fund Development Committees.

David retired after serving as owner and president of D.K. Siegel & Associates for over 15 years, where he counseled personnel in a wide variety of profit and non-profit enterprises on all aspects of human resources management. Previously, he worked in human resource management with Lake County National Bank, Ernst & Ernst, Cleveland Electric Illuminating and Prudential Insurance Company.

Aside from the College, David served as a board member and chair of Lake Hospital Foundation and a number of other organizations. He was a good friend of the College and community and will be greatly missed by the many persons he touched with his kindness and generosity.

David’s wife, Julia (Smith) Siegel, received her M.S.Ed. degree from Lake Erie College in 1984. A descendant of founder Charles Avery, she and David were regular attendees at many College events, including Founders Day celebrations. The couple was named Sesquicentennial Fellows by the College in 2002.

A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held over Memorial Day weekend. Further details about the service will be forthcoming.
