Kaitlyn Holland, Admissions
In the world of college admissions, it's hard to imagine who could better understand the college experience of a given institution than someone who attended that college herself. Admissions counselor Kaitlyn Holland is one of several Lake Erie College alumni now working in the College's Office of Admissions, affording her a unique perspective on her day-to-day work.
Originally from Pickerington, Ohio, Kaitlyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology and a minor in mathematics from LEC. She is also currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree through the College’s Parker MBA program.
Though she now works full-time, Kaitlyn began with the Office of Admissions as a graduate assistant. Her promotion enabled her to work more closely with students and their families, which is the part of the job she loves the most. She also enjoys having the opportunity to travel to new and exciting places during recruitment season, for she is responsible for recruitment in the Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Cincinnati areas.
Kaitlyn’s favorite part of working in the Office of Admissions is the team atmosphere among the staff. “I find that I’m most successful in my job when the general work culture is relaxed and positive, which I’m glad to say has been the case at LEC,” she said. When she isn’t in College Hall or on the road, Kaitlyn’s favorite place to spend time is on a bench by the fountain in front of Kilcawley Hall.
To students who are considering attending LEC, Kaitlyn stresses that, despite the small campus, LEC is a place of big opportunities. “I encourage all students to take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way,” she said. “You never know where one of these opportunities will take you.”
