What makes Lake Erie College a unique place?

  • The Equine Studies program at Lake Erie College is a great place for focused experiential learning, combining the classroom with the horse barn and the equine facility all at the same location. Our faculty is dedicated to excellence both in the ring and in the classroom, and reaches out to the student to provide a personal educational experience designed to prepare the student for a rewarding career in the equine industry.

Research/Creative Activity Interests:

  • Collaboration with Kentucky Performance Products on clinical research at LEC Equestrian Center. Neigh-Lox Advanced Feeding Trial 1. To compare several characteristics of twenty equine athletes in early training receiving basal diet plus Neigh-Lox Advanced or basal diet alone. September 2011 through December 2011. Project costs funded by KPP with student stipends paid by KPP totaling $765.00.
  • Pilot project: Skin temperatures of exercising horses wearing head bonnets. 2013. This spring research project was an exploratory pilot project for upcoming research to be conducted in hot ambient temperatures. The research hypothesis is that horses exercising in hot humid ambient conditions suffer higher head temperatures when wearing a head bonnet than horses not wearing bonnets.
